Minehead travelled all the way to Bridport to take on West Dorset A in the hope of making it 3 wins in a row. With Storm Dennis in full flow playing conditions weren’t perfect but Minehead started the game strongly. Passing the ball nicely around midfield created space for Luke Barker to release Alex Covey through one on one with the keeper, who calmly slotted it home for his fifth goal in two games.

As the first half wore on West Dorset began to get back into the game with Minehead goalkeeper Brandon Rawle have to smartly tip a great reverse stick strike onto the crossbar. However, West Dorset did manage to equalise before halftime from a short corner after more good play from West Dorset’s young forwards.

The second half began with both teams creating chances but it was West Dorset getting their second goal when a lucky deflection fell nicely to their forward close to the goal line to slap home. After this Minehead’s midfield of Luke Orpin, Mark Bolton and Nev Weir began to gain greater control and pushing the team into the opposition half. The pressure finally told after another Luke Orpin dribble lead to a reverse stick finish to draw Minehead back level.

In the final quarter both teams continued to create chances but Chris Briggs, Steve Cottrell and Will Giles, all stepping up from the 3rd team kept West Dorset at bay. Especially when Minehead were reduced to 10 men with centre back Ash Tisshaw and an opposition forward both seeing yellow for a minor disagreement. The game ended with Minehead happy to head home with a point after an even game.
